National Patient Safety Alert: Risk of oxytocin overdose during labour and childbirth with pre-prepared oxytocin infusions- consider carbetocin to negate the need to prepare an infusion.¹

The most common cause of primary postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is a lack of uterine tone.2

NICE have recommended carbetocin for women who have had a caesarean birth, by slow intravenous injection to prevent postpartum haemorrhage.3

There is a different way to prevent postpartum haemorrhage

Carbetocin is now available as a simple, ready-to-administer, pre-filled syringe, indicated for the prevention of postpartum haemorrhage due to uterine atony.4

Meet the first generic carbetocin brought to market:4

  • A cost-effective pre-filled syringe
  • Allows a straight swap from the branded product
  • Provided in a ready-to-administer form

Minimise delay with ready-to-administer carbetocin
Branded carbetocin is available in vials, but the development of a pre-filled syringe formulation means measuring and drawing up is not required in dynamic and fast-moving clinical situations.4.5

The pre-filled syringe has a shelf life of 4 years, so a treatment for postpartum haemorrhage will be there when it is needed.4

Give patients a cost-effective and time-saving treatment to prevent bleeding after delivery, with carbetocin pre-filled syringes.4
